DARLING SQUARE, SYDNEY
Darling Square stands as one of Sydney’s landmark mixed-use developments, completing the transformation of the southern Darling Harbour precinct into a high value, people centred urban neighbourhood. The 500,000m2 GFA of delivered assets enabled the project to bring together a rich mix of public spaces, activated laneways, retail and dining destinations and community assets, including a major commercial building tenanted by one of Australia’s largest banks and a contemporary City of Sydney library.
Central to the offering is a substantial residential component of 1,500 apartments and 1500 student accommodation beds across 11 buildings which set new sales price records for the area and established Darling Square as a benchmark for high density urban living in Australia. The precinct’s human scaled design promotes walkability, cultural diversity, and everyday amenity, strengthening connections between the CBD, Chinatown, and the wider harbour precinct. This ambitious project achieved Australia's first 6 star Green Star urban community rating for sustainability.
In partnership with the NSW State Government, the development demonstrates how design excellence, place activation, commercial performance and long term stewardship can be brought together to deliver a cohesive, high quality neighbourhood. It exemplifies the complexity and ambition of large scale, city shaping projects requiring coordinated governance, integrated delivery and a shared commitment to creating an enduring high value place for Sydney.
Our Role at Darling Square
In a previous capacity, one of our founders served as Project Director for the overall Darling Square development, leading the precinct through five years of delivery from early conceptual thinking to completion, initial operation and divestment.
This role encompassed oversight of commercial strategy, design and procurement management, stakeholder coordination and precinct activation, ensuring the successful delivery of the overall 4 Hectare Development. While undertaken prior to the establishment of our company, this experience reflects the depth of expertise and leadership that now informs our approach to high value, city shaping projects.
