ACTON WATERFRONT, CANBERRA
Acton Waterfront represents one of Canberra’s most significant mixed use regeneration opportunities, unlocking a major city-shaping precinct on the edge of Lake Burley Griffin. Covering a landmark site at the interface of the City and the lake, the project seeks to realise a once in a generation transformation that will establish a vibrant urban waterfront anchored by new public spaces, cultural activity, commercial uses, and future residential opportunities. Central to the ambition is reconnecting the city to the water, fulfilling longstanding intentions of the Burley Griffin master plan while leveraging the arrival of the new city metro to enhance accessibility and catalyse economic and social vibrancy. The project aspires to create a place with a strong identity and a welcoming, inclusive character, setting a new benchmark for sustainable, integrated, civic minded development in the nation’s capital. Its complexity lies in the need to balance design excellence, place making, commercial feasibility, and whole of government priorities, requiring a coordinated approach to planning, governance, and delivery.
Our Role Supporting Acton Waterfront
Haptic RE is working with the ACT Government as Acton Waterfront moves from vision into structured delivery. Our role is to support the in house team leverage the full opportunity of the precinct and create a strong foundation for partnership with the development industry.
We are helping shape the strategic approach, governance settings and commercial frameworks needed to deliver at scale and with confidence. This includes advising on development pathways, enabling strategies for staged delivery, and supporting establishment of the systems and decision structures required for a complex, multi-phase urban regeneration programme.
